Bulldog

Hi All,

Firstly, sorry for not blogging yesterday. Mum was tired and grumpy so she wouldn't let me play on the computer - I'm not sure why her mood should affect whether I blog or not but she's got the food so I gotta do what she says...

Mum and dad have decided to go back to feeding me at 6:15pm and then letting me go as long as I want before feeding again (rather than waking me up for a 10pm feed) because even when I got fed at 10pm I was still waking up around 3am for another feed. Thursday night I woke up at 12am then 5pm; Friday night I just woke up at 2:40am; and last night I woke up at 11:20pm then 5:10am. This way mum gets a longer sleep at the beginning of the night.

Yesterday was the AFL grand final. Now, I don't know a lot of things yet but I get the feeling that my dad likes his football. I don't think I get a choice about which team I follow (see below photo).

Dad is going to Hong Kong tonight so it's me and mum for the next couple of days. I hope dad has fun and does karaoke at least once...

til next time,
Roman

Growing boy

Hi All,

I had my visit at the Maternal & Child Health Nurse today. Here are my key stats:

BIRTH NOW
Weight 3810gm 5470gm
Length 50cm 57.5cm
Head circumference 35cm 39cm

So you can see that I've grown a lot!! Iam on or above the 50th percentile for all my stats and the Nurse is very happy with how I'm coming along.

Mum is happy because last night I went to bed at 7pm then had a feed at 12am then another at 5am so not too bad...

I have got my first cold at the moment. I am doing little coughs and have lots of boogers and am making little "poor me" noises. Mum and dad are hoping it doesn't affect my sleep too much but so far it's just made me a little bit more clingy.

Here's me and my dad:

Parent's Group

Hi All,

Mum and I went to our first parent's group meeting today. There were about 13 new mums and 2 dads. I am the oldest baby by a couple of days so I'll be able to teach the other babies a thing or 2. Also all the other parents will be impressed (or jealous) because I'll be able to do things before their babies. For example I was able to have 15 minutes of tummy time when most of the babies cried after a minute. Also I can hold my head up really high when doing tummy time. Then I stood on mum's legs (while holding her hands, of course) and all the other mums were oohing and aahing about how strong I am. I think mum was secretly chuffed that other people admired how I am doing! There were a couple of mums that mum really liked and can see herself being friends with.

This morning Grammy went back home to Adelaide. It's been lovely having her here and hopefully I didn't keep her up too much at night time.

Tomorrow I have my visit with the nurse so I'll get weighed. I'll be sure to fill you in tomorrow with my progress.

My Grammy

Hi All,

My Grammy has been here for the last couple of days and it's been lovely having her here. She is very good at keeping me company, distracting me and teaching me about the little boy in the mirror. She is also very good at helping my mum. She hangs washing on the line, does dishes, vaccuums, makes up nappies, cooks dinner, helps clean out cupboards, bathes me, goes on walks with me and all sorts of other things.

Today I got to go to Knox shopping centre with Grammy, dad and mum. We went out for lunch which was lots of fun. Unfortunately they left me in my pram (something about it being my nap time). I tried to rock the pram to let them know I was awake but that made me pretty tired so I fell asleep.

Tomorrow me and mum (I haven't learnt yet that I should say mum and I) are going to our mother's group. I'll meet lots of other babies and make them jealous about how cute I am.

Here is Grammy giving me a bath (see how good I am at maintaining eye contact!):

See you tomorow,

Cousins

Hi All,

I got some very special visitors today - my cousins! I am very lucky because I have 1 girl cousin and 1 boy cousin. Natalya gave me lots of hugs and Lachlan is going to teach me how to be tough.

I also got to meet my uncle Justin and aunty Leonnie and enjoyed lots of hugs. I also got some lovely presents including an inch worm that I'm already as long as!! (it's longer than an inch though - it's actually 24).

Then I got more visitors this afternoon!! Aunty Leanne and Uncle Tim came round this afternoon and they came for my walk with mum. Aunty Leanne then gave me my bath which I really enjoyed (I think I worried her when I screamed my lungs out when I came out of the bath but I do that every night, really).

So today I got to see mum, dad, Grammy, Uncle Justin, Aunty Leonnie, Lachlan, Natalya, Aunty Leanne and Uncle Tim... Here's some photos of my day:

Me and My Grammy

Spring Cleaning

Hi All,

I'm looking forward to some very exciting visitors tomorrow - my cousins!! Natalya and Lachlan are coming to visit and see me for the very first time. I'm also going to see my Aunty Leonnie and Uncle Justin. Hopefully I'll be on my best behaviour.

Last night was my worst night in a long time. I had my feed at 10pm then woke up at 2am for a feed, 3am for a burp then 5am for another feed. I've been good today though (I got promoted to my next routine so I get slightly less sleep during the day and I've still been lovely).

Grammy and mum have been doing some spring cleaning. The kitchen cupboards are looking much nicer!

My dad is going to Hong Kong on Sunday for a couple of days (I'm hoping he'll bring me back a cool present and mum is hoping that he brings her back an IPod...).

Well, it's time for my walk so I best be off.

Bye,
Roman

Visitors and smiles

Hi All,

I had lots of lovely visitors today. I saw my Aunty Tanya, Uncle Cliff and my Grammy. Grammy is going to stay with us for a couple of days (I hope she brought ear plugs because her bedroom is next to mine!!). I was pretty sleepy while Aunty Tanya and Uncle Cliff were here but I was still cute.

Here are some photos of me smiling at my mum:

By the way, I got my fingernails clipped for the first time yesterday (mum was very brave and there were no injuries or anything).

Happy boy

Hi All,
You'll be pleased to know that I am much happier than yesterday. We went for an outing today to The Glen shopping centre. We went during my awake time which mum and dad think may have been a mistake because I slept most of the time! We'll see how it affects me tonight...

Here's a photo of me and my mum (well mainly just me):

I'm looking forward to spending the next couple of days with Grammy - I think she'll think I've changed heaps.
Until next time,
Roman

Me

Grumpy boy

Hi All,

I am a very grumpy boy today. I don't know why but I am. I'm hungry, tired and cross. I won't eat well and I cry when I get put down for my naps and then wake up early so I get more tired... Hopefully I'll have a really good lunchtime nap so I'll be beautiful for the afternoon.

I may have mentioned before that I love naked tummy time. It's one of my favourite things - I love the freedom of kicking and trying to crawl. Mum is very understanding (or a slow learner) because she has to wash 2 or 3 layers of towels after every tummy time because I always wee and sometimes chuck up on them. Anyway yesterday morning I decided to do a little more than wee - that's right I did number 2's. Mum and dad thought it was very funny. It was even funnier in the afternoon when I did it again however this time it was projectile number 2's. It must have cleared a good 30cms!! I do have photographic evidence but have decided not to post it as it may offend... (and embarrass me!).

Yesterday afternoon we went for a family trip to Olinda where mum and dad had coffee and hot chocolate. It was very pleasant and I was lovely (people in the coffee shop looked at me and smiled a lot - I think it was because of my hair...).

Goodbye for now (hopefully next time we talk I'll be less grumpy and back to my happy self).

Hugabub

Hi All,

Yesterday mum got a package that she's been waiting for - a hugabub.
It's a baby carrier made out of one long piece of material. Here's a picture of me and dad:

I'm very busy at the moment so I'll have to come back and write more later.

More about boobies

Hi All,

It has been brought to my attention that it seems that I write an awful lot about boobies... This is true but in my defence most of my time is spent either sleeping or feeding and given I don't know what's going on when I'm sleeping, boobies are bound to come up. So unless I have something more interesting to write about, boobies it is...

One of my favourite things to do (especially at night when mum is trying to feed me quickly and with as little fuss as possible) is to stop feeding and when mum tries to feed me again, smile. I give her a big smile and then sometimes a giggle. It makes her laugh so much even though she's tired and wants to be back in bed where dad is lying warm and toasty.
The other thing that makes me smile at the moment is getting my nappy changed. As soon as I lie down on the changing table I start to smile and I love it when the nappy comes off - freedom!!!

So until next time (when I may or may not discuss boobies),

Green Eggs and Ham

Hi All,

Here is a picture of me when mum was reading my new book Green Eggs and Ham to me. Beth and Peter Cotton sent it over for me. I'm not sure I understand the book yet but I think it's about some eggs that are green and some ham (I'm not sure if the ham is also green or not - I'll have to do some more study).

I had a wonderful day yesterday. Mum took me out with her for my morning nap (I slept in the baby carrier while she did her shopping). I was pleasant all day long and I slept well last night.

Bye for now (I'll let you know if I find out about the ham),

Hiccups

Hi All,

I've got the hiccups. I don't just get normal hiccups (every 10 seconds or so). I get them every second and they hurt!!! Often I'll hiccup then scream, hiccup then scream, hiccup then scream (do you get the picture?). Right now, I'm hiccuping then grunting...

It'll be interesting to see how I go today because I woke up for a feed at 5.30am but didn't really go back down after that (I did 5 minute scream, 5 minute sleep, 5 minute scream, 5 minute sleep - see how I like patterns?? until mum got me up at 7am).

In case you've forgotten what I look like - here I am:

Sorry

Hi All,

I've very sorry that it's been a couple of days since I last blogged - my dad came home on Wednesday so I've spent a bit of time entertaining him which has kept me pretty busy. He noticed big changes in me even though he was only gone a couple of days. I'm smiling more now, making more noises and able to entertain myself for longer.

Yesterday was mum and my 6 week check up. I heard mum say to dad afterwards though that she thinks she will change GP's because my 6 week check up consisted of the doctor looking in my pram and commenting that I have cute hair... (which is true but I wasn't there for style tips).

My schedule got a bit messed up yesterday so I didn't go down at bed time like I normally do. Instead I exercised my lungs until about 7:45pm. The trade off for mum and dad was that I only woke up at 2:30am and 6:30am.

Here is my mug shot (note how long my hair is!!):

Until next time!

a Good Night

Hi All,

Just thought I would let everyone know that I had a great night last night. I went to sleep by 7pm then slept through to 10pm. Mum let me cry for a couple of minutes and I went back to sleep until 1.45am. After feeding me I went to sleep until 6.20am - not bad!!

Also I've started to grab mum's hair - I don't know why I do it but I'm very good at it.

Also I'm making lots of cooing noises at the moment.

That's all for now.

Bye, Roman

sleep and food and play

Hi All,

How is everyone? I'm doing well. I was really good for mum last night. I went to bed by 7pm then woke at 11:20pm and then at 3:30am. Unfortunately my morning alarm clock seems to be set incorrectly because I keep waking up at 6.30am instead of 7am. 6.30am is mum's shower time so she can be ready for me by 7am so I am kind of distrupting her morning routine (someone has to tell her that babies can be unpredictable).

This morning mum and I went to Forest Hill at 9am. It's a good time to go because we get the parents with prams parking and there is no-one there. It was a wasted trip though because what we wanted wasn't there but at least we got out of the house.

Mum seems to have some how broken my lunch time nap because I used to always sleep for 2 1/2 hours at lunch without waking but yesterday and today I've woken up crying lots!! I've made up for it this afternoon though by playing happily under the play mat that Aunty Leanne gave me for 45 minutes without crying! My playmat got washed yesterday because I'd pee-ed and puked on it - sorry Aunty Leanne!

I had a visit from Sue Gourd today who brought mum some dinner and cookies. I think grown up food takes longer to prepare than mine does (although less time to eat) so mum is grateful when people cook her dinner.

I miss my dad but I get to see him again tomorrow which is nice (I might be sleeping when he gets home but he can come and have a look at me sleeping if he wants to).

Mum and I are going to go for a walk together now because it looks like the rain is going to hold off.

Bye,
Roman

So far, so good

Hi All,

Dad's headed off to Sydney again so it's just me and mum. So far she's doing alright. We've had quite a nice day together. Unfortunately we couldn't go for our afternoon walk together because it's raining but I went to sleep in my cot instead so it's OK. Mum certainly doesn't do my bath as well as dad does but hopefully with a couple of days practise she'll get better.

The following photos show that apparently boys moods can change just as quickly as girls can (the photos were taken about 3 seconds apart).

I think mum and dad prefer it when I'm like the first photo...
Anyway... bye for now,
Roman

Sunday, September 9, 2007

Hi All,

Yesterday was a pretty lazy day. I'm still waking up early from my morning and afternoon naps but thankfully still sleeping right through my lunch time nap.

We had a visit from Brent and Zena last night and I was a good boy because I went straight to sleep when Mum put me down to sleep at 7pm. I then slept until 2.20am and after a feed slept through to 5.50am.

Here's a picture of me taken a week or so ago:

Have a lovely day!

Chocolate and sleep

Hi All,

Well - I went really well at my Maternal Child nurse visit. I've put on 600gms in 2 weeks which is really good. The nurse told mum that she should keep doing whatever she is doing (I think I heard mum say under her breath "bring on the Lindt Mint Intense chocolate").My head's grown a bit and I'm a bit longer. Mum wonders whether all my growing hurts me...

Then we went into Southbank for mum's lunch. I slept in the car on the way in to the city, then in the pram on the way to the restaurant. Then I slept while mum had lunch and although I woke up a couple of times (mum could tell because the pram starts rocking) I kept going back to sleep. Mum then did her first public breastfeed and she was very discreet - no flashing of boobs or anything (she did practise at home for how she would do it). So the outing went extremely well, better than mum expected.

We then went and picked dad up and went home. Because I'd been out all day I was pretty ratty until my bed time so mum and dad were expecting a pretty icky night. When mum was trying to give me my 6:15pm feed I think I was hungry and tired in equal measure so I wouldn't feed properly and when she put me down for sleep I wouldn't sleep either. But I went to sleep by 7pm and didn't wake until 1:30am. Then after my feed I went back to sleep until 6:30am. So another awesome night!

Dad is going to get the thing we need to put photos up again today so stay tuned for some photos (including one where I have a huge smile on my face!!)

Love to all,
Roman

My trumpet!

Hi All,

Not that I like to blow my own trumpet, but... I slept for just under 10 hours last night!! I went to sleep at 6:40pm and didn't wake up until 4:30am! Mum woke up at 3.30am wondering what was going on (her bosoms probably woke her up) and she was amazed that I then went until 4:30am before waking up. I've still got mum and dad guessing as to why and when I'll have a good night (too much or little sleep or feeds during the day - who knows - only me...). Although I always have good nights it's just when I'll have a SUPER BRILLIANT night.

Today I'm going to the Maternal and Child Nurse so hopefully I've chunked up a bit and she'll be happy with my progress. Then mum and I are going into the city to have lunch at Southbank with her old workmates. Mum is really hoping I sleep through lunch as it's the first time I've gone to a pretty nice restaurant and she is a little bit nervous. I'll be sure to let you know how it goes!

Also - you might like to know that I'm making more and more cute little noises. I get cuter by the day!!

Bye for now,

Back home again

Hi All,

I'm back from my trip to Bairnsdale. I was a good boy the whole time I was in Bairnsdale. I slept beautifully and was perfectly adorable. I also slept on the way home except for the last 5 minutes (I had to be good though because Grandma was in the car!!). So now that I'm home again I'm having a grumpy day. I am pretty tired but too tired to sleep which makes me more tired - does that make sense?!

I was super happy to see my dad last night - I even smiled at him. He got me to stop crying even though I'd been crying for mum. And today I did some more smiles (including one super big one!).

It's time for my lunch nap so I better go. Hopefully I'll sleep all the way to 2 o'clock so that I am not so grumpy this afternoon and so mum can have a nap too.

Bye!

Trips away from home

Hi All,

Yesterday Dad headed off to Sydney and Mum and I drove to Bairnsdale. I slept in the car the WHOLE way to Bairnsdale - didn't cry once!

Grandma, Mum and I went for a walk in the afternoon even though it was quite cold and windy. I got to have my bath in a big person's bath last night. There was plenty of room to kick and float - it was lots of fun.

Here's a photo of me from my visit on Saturday to the Khoo's house.

And here's a photo of me and Olivia (Olivia was born 5 days before me):

See you later,

Father's Day!

Hi All,

Mum tells me that today is Father's Day. It's a day to celebrate and be thankful for my dad. I even went out and got him a present to say thanks to him (I can't tell you what it is because he's still sleeping so he hasn't got it yet).

My dad is pretty awesome - here's why:

He made me
He married my mum
He's really good at bathing me
He's proud of me when I burp or fart
He's super strong (he can pick up my pram with me in it to carry down stairs)
He makes mum laugh and he even made me smile
He changes my nappy and doesn't puke
He burps me really well

That's all I've got at the moment (but that's because I've only known him for 4 weeks). The rest is for me to find out as I grow up.

I love you dad!

8 hours!

Hi All,

Last night I went to bed at 7pm (after about 10 minutes of whinging) then I slept until 3.15am!! 8 hours!!! How amazing am I? I must have known that mum needed a good sleep.

We went to Brandsmart yesterday to get a present for baby Olivia who we are visiting today. Olivia is Kelvin and Adele's baby daughter who was born a week before me. We also got me a very funky duffle coat for when I am a big boy next year.

Grandma and Grandad - in case you read this before Mum rings you - I know Mum said that dad's trip to Sydney had been postponed by a week but now it's back on this week so you still get to see me in a couple of days!

I still love having my bath every night - I even know when it's coming now because I'll be very still and quiet when mum and dad start to undress me.

I know I haven't posted a photo for a while but hopefully dad will fix the problem today (dad - are you reading this??) and then I'll post some photos.

Have a lovely weekend,
Roman
