Hi All,
Well, last night I slept from 6.45pm to (wait for it) 6.30am. That's right, folks, almost 12 hours. And do you know what makes it all the more amazing? Mum left her mobile phone in my bedroom and she got a text at 8pm and because it wasn't read it kept beeping every hour until mum read it this morning. So I slept even though the world was actively conspiring to keep me awake. Amazing.
I'm sleepy again now so I've got to go have a nap.
Bye,

Nursery Rhymes
Hi All,
It turns out my mum knows the beginning of a lot of nursery rhymes but does NOT know the ending to those nursery rhymes. So I spend a lot of time listening to things like:
Insy Winsy Spider climbed up the water spout
Down came the rain and washed poor insy out
La la la la la la la la la
la la la la up the spout again.
I assume la la la la is not really how the nursery rhyme goes and if so that phrase seems to feature in an awful lot of nursey rhymes.
Been pretty busy lately. Out seeing people, having coffees (just milk for me).
Talk soon,
Roman

Visit to the nurse
Hi All,
Would you believe it? - I'm 12 weeks old tomorrow. I had my 12 week check up with the nurse today. Apparently I'm in the 75th percentile for height (I hope they didn't add extra for my hair), and I've dropped down to the 50th percentile for my weight (although I now weigh 6kg which is still very good).
Here's a photo with my dad. Dad says that I look like Rik Mayall from The Young Ones. Mum and I don't know who or what he's talking about but dad is very old so he probably knows a lot about a tv show that must have been about babies.
I've been sleeping really well lately. Mum has been giving me a bottle of expressed milk before my 6pm feed and it seems to make me sleep longer. Last night I went to sleep at 6.30pm and didn't wake for a feed until 4.30am. Good times.
Til next time,
Roman

I have hands!!
Hi All,
I'm not going to apologise for not blogging lately because I've been very busy. I have made a very important discovery this past few days. On the end of my arms... are hands!!! This is quite a shocking discovery - I'm not sure if I'd just never noticed them before or whether they just grew recently. I can intentionally shove them into my mouth (rather than them just ending up there), or I can use them to put other things in my mouth (like the toys from my play gym). I have put a picture below of me trying to put the bird in my mouth.
I don't think my hands are going to be much use for anything else but at least I've found 2 uses for them.
I would seriously recommend that you check the end of your arms to see if you have hands as well.

Milk and Sympathy
Hi All,
Well, after my super long sleep yesterday (11 hours) I reverted back to shorter sleeps last night. After going to sleep at 7pm I woke at about 11:30pm. After a feed I slept until 3:30am but went back to sleep after a couple of minutes and then woke at 5:30am.
It's funny because after a super long sleep both mum and I are more tired and grumpy than after my usual shorter sleeps. I have no idea why I'm more tired but I heard mum say to dad that she's more tired because she spends the second half of the night awake wondering when I'm going to wake up, whether she put too many covers on me or too few covers. I heard dad say to mum that she's crazy.
Mum was very tired yesterday (her most tired day for a LONG time). I think she cried more than me. But then again she usually cried when I was crying so maybe she just felt sorry for me and was crying in sympathy. Dad had more cuddles and play time with me yesterday than usual so that mum could have some little breaks. I'm sure she'll be feeling a lot better today.
I have to start crying now so mum and dad take me to the pool so I can watch dad swim.

Lots of excitement
Hi All,
I have lots to update you on.
For starters I have decided that I will once again accept a bottle of expressed milk. This means that dad can do some night feeds and that one day mum and dad will be able to go out and leave me with a baby sitter (I don't know why they would ever want to do this but whatever...). I did take a bottle from dad very early on but then I would spit it all up and then not go to sleep (and then there was a milk flicking incident that I will probably need therapy for when I'm older). Mum tried again the other day and I drank it all, didn't spit up much and then went straight to sleep. Dad also tried the next night with success.
We had visitors yesterday (friends of mums that she hasn't seen since the wedding). It was fun to meet them and get lots of cuddles.
Yesterday was the hottest day (33 degrees) I've ever had. Ick... I was way too hot and uncomfortable. I had just my nappy and singlet on. My lunch time nap went all wrong. I kept waking up every 15 minutes or so. Also it was much too hot for cuddles which was a shame because I like cuddles very much.
Now for the very exciting news. You may remember that I told you a couple of days ago that I will not sleep for longer than 5 hours... Well, I've changed my mind. Last night I slept from 7pm to 1:30am. Then at 1:30am I chatted to myself for about 20 minutes before falling back asleep. I then slept through to 6am. Another 11 hour night!! (I think I heard mum praising Jesus!! or maybe she was just fretting about why I wasn't waking up while being grateful that I was still asleep. She's very confused.)
That's all for now.

Better Aim required
Hi All,
I had a lovely day today just hanging out with Mum and Dad.
I saw on TV the other day that a good idea for helping little boys aim better when they are going to the toilet is to put ping pong balls into the toilet for them to aim at (they float when you flush the toilet). I think I may need to invest in some ping pong balls because when I was having my bath tonight I had to, ummm, relieve myself and I got myself in my eyes! Both eyes! Definitely need some aiming practise.
Short and sweet today,

Babies and baths
Hi All,
What do I have to tell you today? Nothing much really. Mum and I went to our First Parent's group this afternoon where we learnt about all the different types of exercises mum can do with me to help my development.
For some reason that I'm yet to work out, I have decided to go back to sleeping for only 5 hours at a time during the night. Gone are the good old days of 8, 9, 10 or 11 hours sleep. Nope. Just 5. 5 small hours.
This afternoon I took a bath with mum. After some very careful cropping, you can see a photo below...
I've got to go now so I can go to sleep and then wake up in 5 hours...

Child Birth Class Reunion
Hi All,
Last night we went back to Box Hill hospital to have a reunion with all the mums and dads from child birth class. Unfortunately only 4 families came which was a shame. The mums shared their birth stories with everyone (they are quite shocking - it's surprising my mum even likes me after what I put her through...).
We were in a bit of a rush to make it on time so mum thought we'd skip my bath and just go straight to the feeding part so we could get to the reunion on time. Unfortunately mum and dad have taught me that I should expect naked tummy time, then bath, then boobie, then bed. So mum was feeding me and I was cross because she'd skipped the bath step. I was NOT going to get nice and sleepy like she wanted because she broke the rules. So after about 20 minutes of me being cross and not feeding well and definitely not getting sleepy (and with only 10 minutes to go before we had to leave) mum realised the error of her ways and she got dad to give me a super fast bath. He basically just dunked me and got me out again!! WHAT"S GOING ON??!! I may be small but I'm not stupid. What about the kicking and splashing and smiling and swimming around??? You can't just dunk me and think I'll be fooled. So I did NOT get sleepy and go to sleep like they hoped for. We went to our reunion with me wide awake and a little bit grumpy. After a bit of dad walking me around I fell asleep. When we got home at about 9pm mum fed me again and I decided that they had probably learnt their lesson and I went down without so much as a whimper.
So, dear mum and dad - DON'T BREAK THE RULES...

My day
Hi All,
Let me tell you about my day...
I woke up at 6:20am hungry. After giving me a feed mum realised that her pyjamas were getting strangely wet. Apparently I broke my nappy... So as she picked me up to change my nappy I puked down her back. Then I sneezed on her. he he he...
Then mum, dad and I went for a drive to Box Hill to go to the market. Mum wanted to get there at 8am when it first opened so we could get our stuff and get home for my 9am sleep. Unfortunately when we got there we found out that it doesn't open until 10am... Dad was not impressed as he was tired and mum had made him get up to go shopping. So we decided that given we were in Box Hill anyway we would go to 9.30am church. Dad was not impressed again as he was wearing tracksuit pants with holes in them, a beanie, and hadn't shaved. I got to meet lots of people for the first time which was fun. I think people may have spent more time looking at my hair than thinking about God during the meeting though... Then after all that we didn't go to the market because dad needed a sleep.
The rest of the day gets boring (I was tired and grumbly and don't want to talk about it).
Hopefully tomorrow is more successful!

Stares
Hi All,
I went shopping today with my aunty Leanne. Mum decided to tag along as well which was OK, I suppose. Mum told aunty Leanne about how lots of people stare at my hair and make comments about it. Aunty Leanne thought mum was exaggerating until she carried me around for a bit and then she knew that mum wasn't exaggerating at all!! She found out that people point out my hair to their friends, do double takes, and smile to themselves about my hair. It's good that I can bring so much joy to the world.
We got our photos taken in a photo booth which was fun. I'll get dad to scan in the photo tomorrow so I can show you all.

Angry Baby
Hi All,
When mum and I were in Box Hill the other day an old Chinese man came and talked to mum. The conversation went like this:
Chinese Man: How many weeks your baby?
Mum: He's 9 weeks old
Chinese Man: He cute. His hair go straight up.
Mum: Yes, it sure does.
Chinese Man: In China, that mean he angry baby.
Mum: He doesn't look very angry - he's smiling.
Chinese Man: Yes. He happy baby.
So maybe in China hair sticking straight up is angry but in Australia it's just cool.

Apology
Hi All,
Well, I've recovered quite well from my pin sticking ordeal from the other day. I was a little bit cranky and clingy for a bit but in general I'm back to my lovely self.
Something has been playing on my mind though... When mum and I left the pin lady the other day she said to mum that she'd see us again in December. Why? I've been wondering. Why would we see that nasty, fake grandma, pin lady again? The only thing I can come up with is that she needs some time to think about what she's done so she can give me an apology. Well, I think I would rather the apology via mail, thank you very much.
Yesterday mum and I had coffee with one of the ladies from child birth classes. Harriett is exactly 1 month older than me so I got to see what I might be doing in a month's time. I look forward to being able to hold onto things (like a rattle), and to rolling from my belly to my back.
Last night I slept from 7pm to 4:15am. I noticed that mum was very tired last night so thought I would let her have a nice long sleep. I think she appreciated it very much.

She stuck pins in me!!!
Hi All,
This morning when I got up, instead of having my usual morning feed in front of the TV, we all went in the car to the pool where I had a feed while dad went for a swim. You might be thinking, "oh, it sounds like Roman had a lovely day," but no - keep reading...
So after coming home mum and I went out again. We drove to a school where there were lots of little boys and girls. Then we went into a room where there were lots of babies like me. I thought, "Maybe this is a playdate and I'm going to meet some nice friends..." - but no... Some of them were crying and being grisly and I thought, "I'm a much better behaved baby than them. I don't want to be friends with the cry babies..." After a couple of minutes we met a lady who had kind eyes and a nice smile. She looked just like a grandma. I have 2 lovely grandmas but this lady must be a fake because she STUCK PINS IN ME!!!! Seriously... I let out an almighty howl and waited for mum to stick her back, or yell at her or at least talk to her in a very stern voice but do you know what my mum did?? She offered her my other leg so she could stick me with more pins!!!!
So I am very cross with my mum at the moment and I've decided that I'm not going to talk to her for a while (I might even hold out for a year or so) and when I do talk again I'll probably say dada not mama.
Please see photos above for just how cross I am.

Wee
Hi All,
Been a busy weekend, much too busy to blog so I'll give you the update now. Dad's back which is great. So great, in fact, that I've woken up twice every night since he's been home, hoping that he'll come in and see me but unfortunately every time mum comes instead. Bummer...
On Saturday we went shopping at Eastland and bumped into Aunty Tanya and Uncle Cliff!! Every other time we've been shopping I fall asleep in the pram even if it's my awake time but this time I stayed awake when I was supposed to. The only bad thing about the shopping trip was that my nappy got so full that when mum fed me at the coffee shop my wee got on her jeans and made it look like she'd wee-ed herself... Hopefully that will teach her for not changing my nappy when we're out and about.
Yesterday we just played a lot. Mum was all ready to take me to church for the first time in ages but dad got sick so she bailed. We'll have to do it next week...
Today Sarah visited and made chocolate brownies with mum. I gave her lots of huge smiles!
At the moment I am quite fond of putting my fist in my mouth. The more I can get in the better. See above for evidence...
That's it for now.

Dad's back!!!
Hi All,
Just a quick one today because quite frankly I'd rather be spending time with my dad than playing on the computer. Dad came home late last night but I didn't get to see him until this morning. It is great to have him back. He thinks that I am smiling lots and getting really good at standing up (OK - he holds my arms while I'm doing it but still...). My latest game is to smile at someone when they are not looking so that when they look back at me they see my huge smile. It's quite fun...
Talk soon,

Update
Hi All,
Another good night from me... After going to bed at 7pm I woke up for a feed at 3.30am and then slept until 7am.
Mum and I went to her parents group again today which was fun. I was really well behaved (as always...). Mum always comes away being reminded what a good boy I am. Some of the mums get woken up every 2 hours at night time!! She was a bit embarrassed to say that I slept for 11 hours the other night. But I am the oldest baby so hopefully it gives the other mums hope for the future for when their babies are a bit bigger like me. Next week is a session at night time especially so daddy's can come along.
Dad comes home tonight!!! We miss him very much so mum and I are VERY excited.
That's all for now,

Big day out
Hi All,
Mum and I had an "outing" day today.
After having a good night (woke up for a feed at 2am) I started the day by being a bit fussy and not drinking very well and crying a lot. Mum decided we would still have our day out so we left home at 8:30am. We went to church to go to a session of the ACC conference. I was really good and slept when I should and was awake (without crying) when I was supposed to be (although we sat out the back just in case I decided to exercise my lungs). We then went to visit mum's work where I was lovely and did lots of smiles. We then went and had coffee with Bob from work and I slept again. Then we came home. All in all my schedule wasn't really disrupted at all and I was much better behaved than mum expected given I was cranky this morning.
Mum is excited because she went and got fish from the fishmonger near work. When she was working she would get fish every week but since stopping work she wasn't had any (and she misses it) so she's very happy to have it again but sad that dad's not here to have it too.
I was supposed to have my immunisations yesterday but because of my cold mum had to put it off (what a shame)... I'm pretty much better now though so I think that means I've still got to have my jabs. I don't think I'll be as understanding as when I had my Vitamin K injection in hospital (I didn't even cry at all). I'll let you know how they go.
My dad comes home from Hong Kong tomorrow but I don't think I'll get to see him until Friday because he comes home pretty late at night and I like to sleep then. I'm looking forward to seeing him!!
Bye for now,
Roman

Best sleep ever!
Hi All,
Usually I get fed one boob at 5pm and then the other at 6:15pm after my bath. My schedule says that I should now be able to wait until after my bath for both boobs so last night mum got me to wait until after my bath which I did without too much fuss. I had a really good feed after my bath and then I slept until 6am!!! That's right - 6am. That's 11 hours... The only bad thing about that is that mum's boobs almost exploded given they usually feed 2 -3 times during those 11 hours but she's OK and glad for the extra sleep.
My dad arrived safely in Hong Kong yesterday so now it's 3 days until I get to see him.
I might talk again later today (but maybe not),

Did you know?
Hi All,
I thought I would just quickly tell you a couple of things about me that you may not know...
Did you know:
I have a birth mark. I can't tell you exactly where it is but unless you change my nappy or watch me having naked tummy time you are unlikely to ever see it.
I now have tears. You can see them if you leave me to cry for a couple of minutes...
My nails need cutting again because I scratched my face so hard last night that I had a little bit of blood on my jump suit...
I am tired and cranky today.
that is all for now,
Roman
