Teething

Hi All,

I know I've been very slack lately. Been busy.

Here's a quick run down on what's going on:

My top teeth are trying very hard to pop through my gums. You can see them under my gums- shouldn't be long now at all.

I can walk a couple of steps at a time now. I think it's quite fun actually.

My bottom hurts again. People keep saying it's because I'm teething (but my teeth are trying to come through my gums not my butt).

Hi All,

Today, mum and I drove dad to the train station so he could go to work. Then mum and I went to the library except mum got confused and went in the building behind the library. It definitely was not fun like the library because at the library you get to read books and take them away but at this place they stuck needles in me. Definitely not the same thing at all. I will be very wary of us going to the library in the future.

Then we went to my music group and that was fun. I tried to steal another boys food at morning tea time - you snooze, you lose... Then this afternoon I was very grumpy from my injections. Mum even gave me a bath in the middle of the day to make me feel better (and it did until she got me out - that made me cross again).

It's the weekend now so I get to see my dad lots!

What a week!!

Hi All,

Well, it's been a week since my birthday and a lot has happened... I'll try and start at the beginning.

Mum was thinking that since I did my first roll on my dedication day it only seemed appropriate that I did something big on my birthday too. To keep her happy I took my first step. Now just to be clear, it was a teeny tiny little step. From the couch to mum. But a little step none the less. Since then I have taken a couple more little steps. Sometimes two in a row. Mum and dad try to encourage me to take steps by standing me up and then standing just a little bit outside my reach (don't think I don't know what they're doing...). Most of the time I make them laugh by sitting down and crawling over (hah!!) but sometimes I have a go at walking over.

Mum had wanted me to be completely weaned off the boobie by my first birthday but she missed my a couple of days. Anyway, I now drink all my milk from a cup. I drink it a LOT faster than from mum but I can pretty much hold the cup all by myself (sometimes I need help for the last little bit at the end).

We went to Bairnsdale for the weekend so I could have ANOTHER birthday party with my Grandma and Grandad, and Uncle Justin, Aunty Leonnie, Natalya and Lachlan. I get to sleep in a little room right next to Grandma and Grandad when I go to Bairnsdale. This means that I have to be very good at night time. Both nights I slept until 7am. Then Grandad gets me out of my bed and then I get to have cuddles in bed with Grandma until mum shows up with my cup of milk. Mum is very jealous because both mornings I laid next to Grandma for 20 minutes without squirming or crawling or screaming for my milk. At home I wouldn't do this for 20 seconds...

I had a lovely party and I got MORE presents. I am a very lucky boy who has a LOT of toys!

When we got back to Melbourne dad had to do some manly work in the garden so I got to help (I am 1 after all). It was cold and wet and muddy. Mum doesn't like these things but I LOVE THEM!!! I got all dirty but I had so much fun. Mum chucked me in the bath straight after and all the dirt came straight off.

So that's my big week. I'm sure I'll have another one this week.

Funny Games

Hi All,

TODAY IS MY BIRTHDAY!!

I have been on this earth for 1 year exactly.

This time a year ago my mummy was hurting a lot.

Anyway, here's a picture of me standing up in my new top from mum and dad (Do you like my top, Grandad??).

I played a funny game on mum the other day. There were some boxes in our kitchen because dad was helping Ryan build a computer. I got mum's keys from her bag and played with them for a while then I put them in one of the boxes. The next day I heard mum say to dad, "I see Ryan came and collected his computer and boxes...". Oh oh... Mum started to wonder where her keys had gone but figured they would turn up somewhere (they couldn't have got far, could they??). Dad got a text message from Ryan saying that he had thrown out the boxes but had gone back to get a manual from one of the boxes, and while he was searching for the manual he heard jingling and found mum's keys!!! Mum's lucky, isn't she?? She would never have known where her keys had gone and I never would have got into trouble because no one knew I did it!! The perfect crime.

My 1st Birthday party

Hi All,

Yesterday I had my 1st Birthday party. (Well I kind of had one the other day when Grammy and Papa were over so that would make this my 2nd 1st birthday party but that would get confusing).

Lots of my friends came over to play with me and eat my food and play with my toys. They even brought MORE toys with them. I think they want me to have them because they forgot to take them home with them.

It was lots of fun. Mum and Dad made a cake for me. I think it was supposed to be a picture of me because mum said it was a monkey cake and dad calls me monkey. I don't think I really look like that but I didn't want to hurt mum's feelings because she worked very hard on it.

I ate a little bit of cake and a LOT of biscuits so I wasn't very hungry by dinner time. I think my belly was going to explode...

But I had a very fun day. And I like my presents A LOT!!!

First Words

Hello All,

My mum and dad have been trying to get me to say words. Mum tries to get me to say mum but I say "dad". I don't say dad to dad though. Anyway, Dad has been trying to teach me my first proper sentence and I've pretty much got the hang of it. Do you want to know what it is? It's "Hello Dude." If you say "Hello Dude" to me I might just say it back to you. I think I've got it right but everytime I say it mum and dad have fits of laughter so I might be doing it wrong.

Avocado

Hi All,

I heard on the TV that avocado is good for your hair and skin. Mum was feeding me some for my dinner so I thought I might give it a go. I did it pretty discretely so I don't think mum noticed.

I didn't really notice any difference the next day so maybe it takes a couple of days to work. We'll see...

Busy Boy

Hi All,

I've been a busy boy lately with lots of visitors.

I got to see my Aunty Leanne and Uncle Tim. After I went to bed I even heard my Uncle Dallas but everyone was busy talking so I didn't think I should try and say hello.

Then the next day I got to see my Grammy and Papa. I must have been a really good boy because they gave me presents!

My Tonka Truck is awesome. It's almost as big as me and sometimes it runs away from me but I'm getting really good at catching it.

The next day I saw Aunty Tanya and Uncle Cliff. Grammy and Papa must have told them what a good boy I am because they gave me a present too!!!!

I feel like a very lucky boy.

Not Happy

Hi All,

I've been a bit moody lately and it's because my bottom is on fire. I feel we know each other well enough that I can share that piece of information with you. My poor little bottom is red raw with nappy rash and it HURTS. When mum or dad change my nappy I have to scream at them in case they haven't worked out that it HURTS. I don't like my bath at the moment because it makes my bottom HURT. I even don't like when they put the barrier cream on my bottom because it HURTS. Sometimes I can forget about it for a little while but then I remember again that it HURTS. I hope your bottom doesn't hurt. Anyway here's a picture of me.

Swimming

Hi All,

Mum took me swimming today. It was on her to do list and even though it was getting late in the afternoon she said "let's go!". I'm glad we did because it was lots of fun. I'm very good at swimming. I go in the baby section so I can crawl around. I keep crawling and crawling until the water gets right up to my mouth. Then mum floats me back to the shallow section. Today a little boy threw a ball to his mum except he didn't throw very well so it hit me in the back of the head. I didn't cry or anytihng (I didn't want him to feel bad). I did steal his ball later but I decided to give it back.

Bairnsdale

Hi All,

I've been in Bairnsdale the last couple of days staying with my Grandma and Grandad and their cats. I got to pat the cats and they didn't even mind. Not even when I squeezed their tail. They are very understanding cats.

My Uncle Tim and Aunty Leanne are going to get married. I think this is very good. I like Tim a lot. When he picks me up I get to see the world from up near the clouds. The world looks very different up there.

Here's a picture of me for you. Mummy shared her lamb bones with me. I liked them an awful lot!

Frustrating

Hi All,

Sometimes being a baby is very frustrating. Sometimes you see something you want but you can't work out how to get it.

I know those orange balls are super juicy but I can't quite work out how to open them...

I have been very tired today. I fell asleep in my high chair at creche. And then tonight when mum was giving me my milk I fell asleep on her lap and stayed asleep until she carried me to my bed. Very strange...

The new freeway

Hi All,

Right near our house is a brand spanking new freeway. On Saturday mum and dad decided that we would drive down that freeway just for fun (I'm not sure what's fun about driving down a road but they wouldn't let me stay home by myself so I had to go). When we got to the end of the road we were in Frankston and dad said that given we'd come so far we might as well keep going so we ended up at the beach.

The beach was lots of fun. I wasn't allowed to go in the water because it was freezing and the waves were huge but I was allowed to play in the sand which was lots of fun. I didn't even try to eat any (but I did try the seaweed which was quite tasty).

I'm having very bad sleeps at night at the moment. The last 2 nights I've woken up about 10 times each night. Most of the time I put myself back to sleep but sometimes I need a pat from mum or dad. Mum thinks I might have an ear infection so she's going to take me to the doctor.

Clothes

Hi All,

You may remember that a while ago mum bought me lots of books from ebay. Well she's been at it again but this time with my Size 1 clothes. She bought three lots of things from ebay for a total of $42. Here's a picture of what she got:

That's $2 an item. She's very proud of herself. If she went to Pumpkin Patch she would have been able to get 2 tops for $42 (and half the stuff she got was Pumpkin Patch!). So it looks like my clothes are sorted for a while...

Painting

Hi All,

Today I got to do painting with Mum and Phoebe.

It was pretty messy... but fun

I got paint on my fingers and hand and toes and the high chair and my mouth and my tongue (it did not taste good). Mum almost had a heart attack because although the purple paint come straight off the high chair the yellow paint did not... She tried soapy water like the bottle said but it didn't work. She tried kitchen spray - nope. She got the metho out - nope. By this stage she was looking a little pale and worried. But the good old orange citrus spray worked a treat and now my high chair is nice and clean again. I've very glad that the bath washed the paint off me otherwise I don't know what might of happened.

Two Weeks

Hi All,

I know, it's been 2 weeks since I last blogged. Naughty, very naughty... Mum has been hogging the computer for work and she doesn't always share nicely.

Here's a quick update...

I've now got 2 bottom teeth. They are pretty crooked so I hope that sorts itself out quickly or I might be the youngest person ever with braces.

Sometimes I can stand by myself. To be honest mostly it's by accident and when I realise I fall on my bottom but still...

I think I've forgotten some of the words that I learnt because I've gone back to just saying dadaddadadaada (and sometimes "faf").

I'm very good at playing the maracas. Mum and I play this game - When I pick up the maracas mum says "Shake Shake Shake" and I shake. It's not a great game but mum likes it so I play along.

I'll get mum to take a photo of me tomorrow but for now here's one of me climbing on the bottom of my change table after putting everything that was on the shelf on the ground...

Ducks

Hi All,

Mum and I discovered that just a short walk from home there is a big pond with ducks in it (by discovered I mean that someone told us they were there and then we went and "discovered" them). The first couple of times we went there were only 2 ducks but last time they magically turned into 7. There was one mean duck that kept chasing the others but that did mean that I got to see ducks flying and landing and running and all sorts of fun duck things.
