Christmas

Hi All,

Yesterday my mum, dad and I put up our Christmas tree!!! I never knew that you build trees branch by branch and that they come out of a box but that's how we did it.

I was very helpful:

Mum put the decorations at the top of the tree and I put them at the bottom (then mum rearranged the ones that I put down the bottom):

Sometimes I touch the pretty gold balls and then they fall off. When this happens, I've found the best thing to do is to push them under the tree and walk away. No one will ever know it was me...

My name

Hi All,

If you ask what my name is I will pat my chest and say, "My name, Roman." Sometimes when I'm playing with other kids I'll go over and say to them, "My name, Roman."

But now I also know that my name is Roman Ezekiel Young. I know it says it at the top of this blog but I don't think I've ever noticed. So sometimes I'll say, "Roman Zekiel Young". I've also realised that if my name is Roman Ezekiel Young then my mum's name must be "Mummy Ezekiel Young" and dad must be "Daddy Ezekiel Young."

Here is a picture of me and Dad:

Train

Hi All,

My mum and I did something special today.

We went to the train station like usual but instead of waiting for daddy we got ON the train!!!

It was very exciting. We went all the way into the city and then got off and walked through a lovely park and guess what? We found my dad!! He was in the same park!! What do you think the chances of that are?? Amazing.

Then we got back on the train and came home.

Lots of fun.

I'm a dork!

Hi All,

The other day, just after I'd woken up from my lunchtime sleep, my mum asked me what I would like to do in the afternoon. I said, "go to the park!" but then I changed my mind because I thought of something better and said, "GO SWIMMING!!"

Mum said, "OK, let's get ready and go!" So as mum got her stuff ready I thought I would be very helpful so I got my sandals and put one on all by myself. I've never done this before so I was very proud of myself. Mum laughed when she saw me and said she was very proud of me. She put my other sandal on for me and we went to the car. On the way mum took my photo.

Later, I heard mum say to dad that I was a dork because I still had my pj pants on (which are too short) and I'd put my sandal on over my sock but she didn't have the heart to change it because she was so proud of me. I think "dork" must mean a little boy who is very clever and also very cool.

Baby Animals

Hi All,

On the weekend I went to see baby "animules" at a farm with my mum, dad, Aunty Tanya and Uncle Cliff.

I fed grass to the goats and sheep, saw a big fat pig and was pretty disappointed to watch some baby goats scare my mum.

It was lots of fun!

Go away

Hi All,

Sorry for being quiet over the last week. Been busy.

I just wanted to tell you a story.

I was playing yesterday by myself, screwing and unscrewing knobs from the exercise bike. Mum came over and sat down with me. I said, "Go away, mummy." I didn't say it rudely or in a nasty way. Mum wasn't sure she'd heard me right (because usually I love playing with my mum) so she asked "Did you say - go away, mummy?". I said, "yes." So mummy went away.

Sometimes little boys don't want to play with their mums.

Trains

Hi All,

I love trains. Love them!!!

Every day we take daddy to the train station.

While we are in the car I say, "Take daddy to the frain station," "Thank you daddy take frain station," "I love you take daddy frain station." (I can't actually say "train" so I say "frain."

I used to get very upset when dad got out of the car at the train station and I would sob on the way home "Daddy, daddy." But I'm over that now. I just say "Bye Daddy, see you later!"

But the best part is when we pick daddy up from the train station.

When I hear mum's phone ring in the afternoon I know it's daddy. So when mum says, "Guess where we're going?". I say "GET DADDY FRAIN STATION!!!".

In the car I say, "Go Frain Station, get Daddy. Ding, Ding, Ding." (I say Ding, ding, ding because that's the noise the boom gates make).

When we get to the street that the train station is on I say, "Yay, frain station, get daddy" and I start making happy shouting noises.

When we get out of the car I say, "Quick, frain station, quick, quick" because we have to cross over the train lines before the boom gates start going ding, ding, ding.

Then when we get to the platform we sit down and I say, "How many minutes?" so mum can tell me how many minutes until the train comes.

Then I wait for the ding, ding, ding. When I hear it I say, "Ding, ding, ding. What that mean? Frain coming!"

If anyone walks past me I say, "Get daddy frain station!"

Then when the train comes I watch all the windows very carefully until I see daddy.

Sometimes daddy isn't on that train and the train leaves. I say "Bye frain, see you later" and I wave to all the people on the train. Sometimes they wave back.

But sometimes I spot daddy. I point my finger at him and yell, "DADDY!!!" Then he points back at me and yells, "ROMAN!". Then he comes and high fives me. All the other people walking past smile and wish their little boys were waiting for them at the train station.

It's probably the favourite part of my day.

War Wounds

Hi All,

Yesterday I suffered an injury. A bad one. I'll tell you what happened.

My Grammy and Papa have come to visit. I love seeing my Grammy and Papa. I was playing with Papa, sliding down insulation bags and chucking sticks, having lots of fun while Grammy and Mummy were watching at the top of the stairs. I wanted to make sure Grammy got to play too so I rang over to her to throw the stick to her but I ran so fast that I tripped on a tile and fell and smacked my face on the second step. My tooth went through my lip and blood came out (I don't think I've seen blood before!).

Today I have a big, fat lip. Click on my photos to get a good look.

I was very brave and Dr Papa said I would be fine. I even got icecream after my dinner. Now I know what I need to do to get icecream!

Gardening

Hi All,

One of my most favourite things in the world is being outside. Luckily for me I've been outside all weekend doing gardening with mum and dad. I've used the shovel and the saw and the rake.

Mum and dad hired a skip to put some tree branches in. I saw how dad climbed into it: climb on chair, foot on sticky-out bit and heave self into skip. It didn't look to hard so I climbed onto the chair, put my foot on the sticky-out bit and then hung from the edge of the skip with my feet dangling (this was not how it was supposed to happen). Luckily dad came and helped me get down to the ground. I told him, "dangerous."

You might remember a while ago I told you how we planted a veggie garden. Well, the broccoli wilted, the cabbage got eaten by snails, the strawberries got picked while they were still white (oops) BUT the beans grew to be enormous and we ate them on Saturday night.

dress ups and workmen

Hi All,

Lately mum has been buying me some things to start a dress up box. She bought me some kneepads:

There is only one in the picture because I would only wear one if mum or dad was wearing the other one.

And a hat:

I wanted to wear this hat as soon as we left the op shop and a lady walking past said I looked very dashing!

That's all the dress up things I have so far.

We have had some workmen in our house lately. I like to talk to them. I say, "Hello Man". If they don't talk back, I talk for them. I say "Hello buddy" in a deep voice.

The other day the workmen were in the kitchen and mum was changing my nappy in my bedroom (right next to the kitchen). Everything was very quiet so I said in a loud voice, "DON'T TOUCH PENIS." I think mum was worried about what the workmen thought she was doing. I thought it was funny.

Red cheeks

Hi All,

Today I want to tell you that I have a cold. I coughed a lot last night and today I have a snotty nose. This is a photo of me and my mum (I'm the one with the very red cheeks):

Today we spent time outside doing a lot of gardening, and playing football, and eating picnic lunch and riding my bike.

Boxes

Hi All,

A postman delivered a box yesterday for my mum. It was a big box. When dad got home we opened it up. Inside the big box was another big box wrapped in pink paper and a big bow. Mum says it's her birthday present.

I then decided it was a good idea to climb into the big box.

It was a lot of fun.

I then tipped the box over and used it to hide in. Mum and Dad had to come into my hiding box (but not at the same time because it's not that big).

All the little packing popcorn came out of the box. It took Mum, dad and me about 10 minutes to clean them all up. Dad found one in his shoe this morning.

Wedding

Hi All,

I've been very busy since the last time I blogged.

Mum and I took Aunty Leanne to Bairnsdale with a WHOLE lot of stuff in our car. We had flowers and boxes and suitcases and a cat and baskets and tableclothes and napkins and seat covers and ribbons. It was so full that when we stopped for lunch mum and Aunty Leanne had to get me out through the front of the car.

When we got to Bairnsdale, mum and Aunty Leanne got very busy. I don't know what they were doing but I just spent the next 2 days hanging out with Grandad. We watched the car races and we mowed the lawn.

Then on Saturday we went to Aunty Leanne and Uncle Tim's wedding.

My Aunty Leanne looked very beautiful (and Uncle Tim looked OK too).

My Mum looked a bit fancy:

Do you want to see a photo of me in my nice black suit that mum bought specially for me?

Well you can't.

Because when Mum and Dad tried to put it on me I got very, very upset. Once the shirt was on I just cried, "Shirt off, please. Shirt off, please." No wonder - the shirt was pink! Pink! How did they expect me to wear a pink shirt. Nope. Wasn't going to happen. So I just wore my suit pants and a normal top. If you look closely in this photo I'm in between Aunty Leanne and Uncle Tim:

So now Uncle Tim and Aunty Leanne are married. This means that my Uncle Tim is now my Uncle Tim. Although he's always been my Uncle Tim. I don't know.

I hope this brings you up to date on what's been happening in my life. What have you been up to?

Play Centre

Hi All,

Last Saturday it was Uncle Tim's bucks night (and I wasn't invited) so Aunty Leanne, mum and I decided to go to a play centre and have some fun.

I loved it very much. There was lots to do. The thing I loved most of all was the jumping castle:

I jumped and jumped like a kangaroo. I loved it so much that even after 2 different people banged heads with me (within about 10 seconds of each other) I still wanted to keep jumping even though I was crying. I wanted to cry but also jump because if I stopped to have a cuddle and a cry then I couldn't keep jumping. Jumping definitely trumped crying.

I loved it a lot.

Aunty Leanne was jealous because she wanted to jump too but she couldn't because none of the other adults were jumping (and if she had started jumping everyone would have looked at her and commented on how inappropriate she was being).

My camera

Hi All,

I like having my photo taken and I like looking at photos so Mum decided that it would be a good idea to give me mum and dad's old digital camera. I LOVE it! I walk around taking photos of lots of things. I say "Smile" to people and then if the photo is good I say "Well done!"

Here are some photos I have taken all by myself:

There are photos of my Aunty Leanne, my mum's shoes, the bathroom cabinet, my friend Phoebe, my daddy, my mummy and other things. I'm a very good photographer.

C'mon!!!

Hi All,

Last week we were going for a drive in our car. This is what it looks like when we go for a drive:

This is what my daddy uses to steer the car:

And this is what my dad looks like when he's driving:

And this is me:

Anyway...

My dad was driving and someone cut us off. My dad honked his horn and said "C'mon!!!" Well, for the next 5 minutes I sat in my seat yelling, "C'mon!" and whenever we go for a drive and I hear a horn I yell "C'mon!!" even though this happened a week ago.

I think mum and dad are a bit embarrassed but also very glad that my daddy didn't say anything worse than c'mon...

Guitar

Hi All,

My dad plays guitar and I like to play too. We have a pizza peel in our kitchen cupboard that I like to get out and use as a guitar. This is a video of me rockin' out (press the play button). Sorry it's a bit dark - it gets better halfway through.

So much to tell

Hi All,

Sorry for not blogging for a couple of days. I've been so busy doing exciting things that I've forgotten to tell you about them. Here's a few of the things I've done:

I went on a steam train with my mum and dad. We sat with my friend Jake and his mum and dad. It was so much fun. We got to wave to all the people and bridges and buses and trains and dogs that we saw out the window.

I've been swimming twice with my mum lately. We hadn't been swimming in months and months and finally the guilt got to mum and she took me. I love it very much. I cried when mum said we had to get out. I cried all the way to the change room and while mum was getting me changed I pleaded, "swim, one more, mum please?" nope, nothing. Once mum has made her mind up, it's very hard to change it.

My aunty Leanne bought me a pair of shoes. I love them. Whenever I see them I say, "Thank you, Leanne." Even when she's not around.

My mum made something yummy the other day. I think it might have been icecream. While she wasn't watching (or judging from the photographic evidence below, maybe she was watching) I got the spoon and bowl from the bench and licked it clean. yummy!!

Vent

Hi All,

Yesterday I got into trouble.

Big trouble.

Yesterday morning while mum was busy I took the heating vent out of the floor and put every piece of my puzzle and 3 little people into the vent (Little people are little toy people - I didn't actually put some small children down the vent - imagine how much trouble I would have been in if I'd done that!)

This photo shows some of the stuff mum had to get out of the vent with long tongs.

I also got into trouble yesterday afternoon when I tried to do it again. Mum caught me after I'd put in about 5 puzzle pieces that time.

This is a photo of how I get out of trouble:

I give mum a big, cheesy smile. I find that helps.

Park

Hi All,

I've been on holidays visiting my Grandma and Grandad. I also got to see Toby (the dog) and Angelo and Sophie (the cats). I pulled Sophie's ears which was not very nice.

I sleep in a little room next to Grandma and Grandad's bedroom. When I wake up in the morning I get to have cuddles with my Grandma and Grandad and we sometimes watch TV. Then I say to Grandma, "Roman - milk? Grandad - coffee?". I know Grandad appreciates me putting in his order as well.

Yesterday I got to play at the park. It was lots of fun and then daddy found us and played as well. Daddy likes the swings very much.

Also I pooped in the bath last night but nobody wants to hear about that (or how daddy had to clean it up).

Bye for now,
Roman
